Zinc Oxide: Occurs in nature as the mineral Zincite and the metal Zinc has been oxidized into Zinc Oxide. Zinc Oxide is a great broad spectrum blocker as it is stable in sunlight and absorbs then reflects UVA and UVB rays while resting on outermost layer of skin. Zinc oxide is one of 17 active ingredients used in sunscreens that is currently approved by the FDA but does not disrupt hormones, accumulate in tissues and organs, or fail to biodegrade in the environment like other chemical sunscreens have shown to do. To maintain an SPF of 30+ using Zinc Oxide there would have to be a lot of Zinc Oxide added creating a non-preferable white and chalky affect (think of the iconic lifeguards white nose-- that is Zinc oxide!). Our products have not been lab tested so do not have an exact Sun Protecting Factor but do assume a protection comparable to SPF 8-15.

Aromaceuticals:

Aromaceuticals, or essentials oils, play a leading part in natural skincare. Acting as both fragrance and as active ingredients, they offer a variety of skin-beautifying properties to make a real difference to your skin. We proudly use only 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

Bergamot: Bergamot is the bitter Italian orange peel that has a fresh, sweet-tart, orange scent, with a slightly spicy balsamic undertone. As a natural skin toner and detoxifier, it may prevent premature ageing and have an excellent effect on oily skin conditions and acne. It is added to many blends that are created to bring mental clarity.   *Because of its phototoxicity, care should be taken when applied to skin areas that will not be exposed to sun.

Chamomile (German):

Chamomile (Roman):

Cinnamon: It is considered a warming remedy that stimulates digestion and circulation while supporting the immune system and relieving aches and pains. High in antimicrobial and antibacterial properties and is extremely high in antioxidant capacity, only second to clove. It has known to be used as an aphrodisiac.

Clove: Clove oil has the highest antioxidant capability of any essential oil. Strongly antimicrobial, antiseptic, homeostatic, and anti-inflammatory. Clove is also commonly used for numbing tooth pain, and may be effective in speeding the healing of mouth and gum sores. It's analgesic and warming properties are great for joint pain and the oil can be used to assist in breaking tobacco cravings by massaging one drop on the tongue with one finger daily.

Eucalyptus: Known for its use in inhalants and vapor rubs, this oil may also be helpful with sore joints, rheumatism, sore muscles, and sprains. Antibacterial and antiviral.

Frankincense: A very good choice in products for dry and mature skin to help keep wrinkles at bay. It has a fresh, woody, spicy scent with a citrus top note. Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, and tonic. It has a gentle and calming effect on the central nervous system.

Geranium: Superb for oxygenating facial skin especially where there are broken capillaries and veins. Balances the production of sebum in the skin while keeping it supple and helping to heal wounds. It can be used to clear congested skin, dermatitis and eczema and is great for oily and mature skin. Promotes circulation and is a good lymphatic cleanser meaning it helps with edema and cellulite.

Grapefruit: Contains cooling, cleansing, and decongestant effects. Like many of the citrus oils, it has a unique 'fat dissolving' characteristic. This oil is most noted for use in reducing cellulite, and it has been shown in laboratory studies to increase the metabolism of fat cells. Useful for cleansing oily skin conditions and helping with acne due to its astringent properties. Refreshing, cheering, slightly euphoria-inducing and slightly energizing.

Helichrysum:

Lavender: The number one choice to use on minor burns and on skin problems. Effective for letting go of nervous exhaustion and can assist with depression. A good analgesic for muscular aches and pains especially sports related injuries as well as rheumatism and arthritis.

Lemon: Can be used to clear congested skin and the astringent properties are great for oily skin conditions. The antiseptic effect of lemon oil on the other hand, helps to treat any cuts, boils and minor wounds. The rubefacient action of the oil further helps to sort out cellulite, as well as helping with acne. It is also known as an anti-wrinkle oil.

Myrrh: Has a warm, sweet-balsamic, slightly spicy-medicinal scent. Highly prized for its healing and spiritual powers; the oil has one of the highest sesquiterpene contents- a compound which can directly affect the hypothalamus, pituitary and amygdaline. Gentle and calming effect on the central nervous system. Anti-infectious, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory.

Peppermint: The main constituent of peppermint is menthol, a potent chemical which causes a quick physical response when inhaled or applied the the skin. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness which the body reacts to by producing its own warming effect by flowing blood to the area of application. This physical sensation is responsible for its long history of use as medicine. The aroma is strengthening, soothing and stimulating. It has been repeatedly studied for its effectiveness in stimulating concentration, focus and mental sharpness. May also relieve congestion when inhaled and is commonly used for headaches ad migraines by placing drops on temples.  Combined with its antibacterial effect, peppermint essential oil becomes a genuine medicine to help all sorts of digestion-related issues.

Rosemary: An excellent tonic for the muscles and can be used to relieve stiffness, cramping, and pain. Best known for its aid in memory and hair loss. Antibacterial and antioxidant.

Sweet Orange: Uplifting to the emotions and the mind. Rather than stimulating, the effect is calming and can act as an antidepressant. It's considered warming, cheering, soothing, and can bring balance to the nervous system. Contains about 90% limonene, which is in many household cleaners. Because of this, it is used as an Earth friendly alternative to many household common cleaners.

Tea Tree:                                                                                                                                                     Back to Top
